Well… here’s to my first ‘real’ blog post. Where I write all my thoughts down, no? Right?… I’ll just get right to it.
Before leaving to Europe, I had the honor to photograph a legendary Latin Pop Star - Luis Fonsi - known for “Despacito”, ‘my mom would sing this at the top of her lungs anytime, especially when I took her to Puerto Rico,’ Llegaste Tú, with Juan Luis Guerra, ‘another musical Latin legend’ and “Echame La Culpa” with Demi Lovato and his most iconic single “No Me Doy Por Vencido”. Contacted by the one and only Cris Novo and the CONTRAST team, I was excited and a little nervous for this awesome opportunity. ‘This is a legend in your corta venas, you must dedicate his songs to your girl if you fuck up type legend.’ This made this photoshoot that much more fun, bridging the gap between sensual and legend; creating with him and having him lock in with me to translate and allow me to capture and translate his essence, was smooth and groovy. ‘I mean… I took the risk and I told him; ‘Look. I want to capture you and want you to give me Daddy. Pero not Dad Daddy but Daddy DADDY. You feel me?’ and immediately yes he did! These are the things I look forward to in my photo-shoots, to me he is a light and a soul that I was granted to connect with through Art.
Off the bat Vacio ft Rauw Alejandro, Luna, Girasoles are top tier must listen from his new album, Ley De Gravedad. Actually, Girasoles was, immediately repeat. Before photographing him, I did not know what his album was about nor listened, only the title... Ley De Gravedad… Doing my own psychoanalysis of the title, I thought to my self this has to do with inner self reflection, chemistry and balance, love and hate, ‘you know… all the mooshy gooshy things that we don’t say out loud, so its why we listen to Fonsi… duuuuuhhh!’
Working with the CONTRAST team was amazing. They had sushi, ‘my fave’, and gave me the space and comfortability to be myself and have my team with me. After capturing their desired cover concept, we entered what I like to call… “The Crispi Therapy”. The shoot consisted of 3 looks, with one of them being the cover concept. Please take a dive and read all about it!
